A meeting was held in Waitangi where 250 or more people attended and these people were represented by Ngapuhi Nui Tonu and many other Hapu (Tribes) from all over the country to discuss the Ngapuhi settlement negotiations. One of the Ngapuhi Rangatira, Chief Charles Hohepa addressed Andrew Little a settler servant government representative with a warning.

Rangatira Chief Charles Hohepa addressed Andrew Little - as it is desirous of Maori to maintain a harmonious relationship within our borders, we caution the settler servant government; they need to change thier ways toward Maori, the consequences of that is, full disengagement from this illegal unconstitutional servant settler government system, to separate development.

For years the government's goal was to divide and conquer our Maori people so they will never stand to reclaim their Sovereignty in Aotearoa (NZ). For over 182 years, Maori people have survived discrimination, impoverishment and marginalisation inflicted by the settler servant government and their laws, however unbeknown to the Nation a group of many Hapu (tribes) throughout Aotearoa have joined together, to stand as one as the "Wakameninga O Nga Rangatira O Nga Hapu O Aotearoa (The Chiefs of the Tribes in Aotearoa)" under the Sovereignty of "Te Whakaputanga Kara". A Karanga has been made to all other Hapu in Aotearoa to put aside all their differences and join the kaupapa; - for comments email us at: info@internationalmaoriculturalcentre.org

A Rangatira (Chief) Ruwhiu Honihana Kopa Kuri from Otaua, Hokianga NZ submitted an requisition in 1954 to the Kaikohe Council (local government) to tarseal there settlement roads, conditions of the roads were extremely bad back in those days ,however a little settlement waits, half a century later!

From 1954, 63 years ago and up until now December 2017 there has been no work done on the roads by the Kaikohe Council in Otaua, people are still driving on shingle roads with big potholes.

The Rangatira (Chief) Tau Kopa the son of Rangatira (Chief) Ruwhiu Honihana Kopa Kuri decided to complete the request of his father made in 1954 against the Kaikohe council and actioned a petition gaining over 500 names to submit against the Council to disengage their settlement to fully disengage for separate development.

In 2015 Rangatira (Chief) Tau Kopa found a solution to disengaging Otaua Community for separate development from the council through Sovereign Title. Sovereign Title (MANA WHENUA) entitles the Hapu to operate and trade entirely under "Te Whakaputanga Kara". The Whakaputanga Kara is the 1st constituted flag of Aotearoa (NZ) recognised worldwide from 1835 to this present day 2017 and the "Whakaputanga Kara" has never been extinguished.

This document is one of many signatures signed against the Kaikohe District Council; - for comments email us at: info@internationalmaoriculturalcentre.org

Are Sovereign Maori obliged to pay rates to the local governments?

Posted on Monday 13th November 2017

Rangatira Chief Herbert Rerekura has been battling with the South Taranaki District Council (local government) since the 5th of July 2016 when he stood his ground to stop paying his rates after realising he has sovereign claim over his whenua (land).

After many numerous letters exchanged to and fro from the council and TSB bank, Rangatira Herbert Rerekura sought help from Barrister Barney Tupara whom submitted a report to the Waitangi Tribunal on the 8th of September 2017. The report shows through the Te Tiriti O Waitangi.

Section article 2, Ko Te Tuarua

Section Turangawaewae,

Section Papakainga,

Section Sovereignty,

Section Independence

Section Tino Rangatiratanga

Through all these factors Tangata Whenua O Aotearoa do not need to pay rates to the local government (councils) throughout the country.
